New Projects

The 2 Chicks (aka Vickie & Katie) had fun crafting lots of projects together over the holiday weekend. The stationary set design came from Jackie Topa's blog and the elegant white silhouette cards came from Dawn's Stamping Thoughts. These are 2 terrific sites with lots of awesome ideas to share.

Celebrations

The end of the school year always brings special celebrations and this year is no different. We are honoring 3 graduates within our circle of friends as well as within our church family. Several are getting married - my how time flies. I've put together a wedding card that I think actually turned our really pretty. Katie found a wedding card printed in a magazine that featured 2 love birds - I checked out my Cricut cartridges and found 2 love birds in a cage on the Joys of the Season holiday cartridge and used the word 'love' from the Opposites Attract cartridge -- Cricut cartridges are really interchangeable no matter the occasion -- a little embossing and ribbon complete the look. The 2 Chicks are soon to be opening a booth where we will sell the crafts that we enjoy putting together. We've put in a lot of time making items and have especially enjoyed the time together.

Special Note Cards

Well, a comment I received from Butternut Sage Designs (thank you, thank you)(http://butternutsagedesigns.blogspot.com) inspired me to make some special notecards for a friend's daughter who is getting married next month. I think they turned out pretty cute and she loves all shades of purple!

Happy Birthday Tripp

Our grandson turned 2 years old on the 14th of April -- hanging out with Barney at Chuck-E-Cheese on party day!! He is such a blessing to us.
Katie (aka Chick 2) is so glad her semester is almost over! Studying is no fun!

Backyard Demolition

Well, the backyard is “coming out” today! We are a parsonage family and sometime before we moved here, the backyard had been built up with lots of concrete, a faux bridge, and lots of scattered plantings. While the effects I’m sure, were pretty cool way back when, now it is just a big overgrown jungle that is very difficult to take care of, creates standing water and leaking into the basement, and has too many little hiding places for snakes (can’t stand the thought of our pups hangin’ out with unwelcome visitors!). The backhoe is going full blast and it’s neat to watch all the work going on from the ‘safety’ of my office window.

Before (2005) --- kind of hard to tell from this distance, but the concrete is molded up against many of the basement windows.

During (2009) ---
